Xavier Lee, the standout quarterback from Seabreeze High who has received about as many scholarship offers as a prospect can get, says that he is not taking an official visit this weekend, but rather will be contemplating which lucky college will be getting his services for the next four years.
The 6-3, 209-pounder, who will be deciding between Auburn, Florida State and Texas, the college which received a visit from Lee this past weekend. Lee says that he would be making his decision on some very specific criteria.
"A team that does enough passing to set up the run and enough run to set up the pass kind of deal," Lee explained about the type of offense he wants to play for in college. "For me to play not so much next year, but to hopefully redshirt and be like in the starting position so I can earn it the year after that. You know, if my family agrees with it because family comes first in just about all things. Also I want a place that I can excel in my education as well."
Lee, who will be making his announcement Sunday night at his high school football banquet, says there is one thing that really set the Tigers and Noles apart. "I like the school a lot, he said about Auburn. "During the game it was really exciting seeing how the fans are at game time, like how the atmosphere is during the game. It was kind of different that only two schools have and that is Auburn and Florida State because I went there on game days."
The number two-rated quarterback prospect in the country says that there are some strong positives for both Auburn and Florida State. "One thing I like about Florida State is the atmosphere, the fans, hopeful playing time early and the coaches are real down to earth, Lee said. "And with Auburn there were a lot of similarities. I like the coaches there too and the players were real cool and stuff."
As much fun as recruiting can be for players, Lee says that he is anxious to get back to some physical activity very soon. "I am waiting on track and then I am going to start training for next year."
One thing is for sure, no matter which college the X-Man chooses, there will be some very jubilant and some very disappointed fans and coaches come Sunday night.
