Georgian Says Tigers Are Currently On Top

This offensive and defensive player says he likes the Tigers.

Bainbridge, Ga.--Phillip Gamble knew he would get a late start on his recruiting visit to Auburn, but not this late.

"I have rescheduled my visit for Tuesday," he says. "I had a basketball game on Friday and planned to come in on Saturday, but we had problems with our car."

Gamble, who says he is currently 6-1, 192 pounds with 4.48 speed, notes that Auburn is his leader over Marshall, where he is scheduled to visit on Friday.

He earned All-State honors as a senior tailback, who rushed for 1,300-plus yards and 16 touchdowns.. He totaled more than 2,000 all-purpose yards in his first year as the starting tailback after two seasons as a starting receiver for Bainbridge High School.

Gamble is also a safety on defense and says that he is not certain what position he will play in college, where he wants to major in criminal justice.

Tuesday's trip to AU will be his first official visit.
