Defensive lineman James Knight from Murray County High is a 6-2, 265-pounder with exceptional quickness and strength. His dad David Knight says there is little doubt his son was wowed by his experience on the Plains.
"It went well," Knight says. "James was real pleased with it. He was pretty excited about going down and getting to meet everyone at Auburn. It was a positive meeting. He came back with a real good attitude and a lot of good things to say about the university down there. My understanding is that everything went well and he was real upbeat about it."
A player who has received attention from several smaller schools, including Georgia Southern and Middle Tennessee State, Knight is an intriguing prospect because of his quickness off the ball and his strength at the point of attack. While he's waiting on an offer from the Tigers, Knight says his son remains impressed by his trip to Auburn and has them high on his list.
"My understanding is that we'll be in touch over the next two or three days," Knight says. "They are excited and would like to have James come down there and play and attend the university. Just judging from him, he's been on official visits and he really came back from this one with a different attitude. He thinks he can perform at that level and get an education. He was real impressed with the faculty, the academics and everyone involved."
Knight has trips planned to Georgia Southern and Middle Tennessee State before making a decision.
