Linebacker Makes College Choice

A visitor to Auburn over the weekend says he is not going to sign with the Tigers.

Powder Springs, Ga.--Linebacker Gerald McRath announced Sunday night that he will sign with Southern Miss.

The 6-3, 215-pound linebacker took an official visit to Auburn over the weekend. The Tigers were his leader prior to making the visit, but said that the chance for early playing time was better with the Golden Eagles.

McRath said his visit to Auburn was a good one. "The people at Auburn did a really good job on the visit weekend," he says. "I enjoyed it all."

McRath had a friend and former high school teammate waiting on him to show him around the Auburn campus as his player host, freshman offensive lineman Jarrod Britt.

This past fall, McRath was the team captain at McEachern, where he finished his season with 90 tackles, five fumble recoveries, two fumble recoveries and one interception.
