This signee could challenge for playing time right away on the defensive front.

Summit, Miss.--A name from the past signed with the Tigers on Wednesday when former Alabama signee and current junior college standout Christopher Browder inked with Auburn. The 6-4, 240-pounder with 4.5 speed from Southwest Mississippi Junior College is expected to join the Tigers this fall for two-a-days after finishing classes.

In just nine games this season at Southwest Mississippi Junior College Browder finished with 99 tackles, three caused fumbles, four sacks, eight tackles for loss and 27 quarterback hurries. A versatile player, his coach says Browder has the ability to play either linebacker or defensive end in college and will be an asset to the Auburn program.

An All-State performer at Wilcox-Central High before signing with Alabama two years ago, Browder was one of the top linebacker prospects in the South coming out two years ago. Leading his team to an undefeated regular season Browder had 136 tackles and 29 sacks as a senior. He finished his career with 45 sacks.
