Fullback Signs With Tigers

Auburn needed help at the fullback position and this player will fit the bill.

Waynesboro, Miss.--One of the top fullback prospects in the South made it official on Wednesday when he signed with the Auburn Tigers. Bruising Michael McLaughlin from Wayne County High joined teammate Steve Gandy in signing with Auburn at a ceremony at their high school.

A 6-1, 205-pounder with 4.5 speed, McLaughlin was a standout on offense for one of the top teams in Mississippi this season. In a state championship year he finished with over 1,500 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. He also rushed for almost 1,300 yards as a junior.

McLaughlin considered Nebraska, Southern Miss and Mississippi State before committing to the Tigers late in the recruiting process on Jan. 30.
