Tony Bell Picks Tigers

In-state star Tony Bell picks the Tigers.

Alabaster, Ala.--One of the top safeties in the South made it official on Wednesday when he signed with the Auburn Tigers. Thompson High's Tony Bell took his recruiting down to the wire, but in the end decided on Auburn over the Georgia Bulldogs. He also considered the LSU Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers before making his decision.

A solid basketball player in addition to his exploits on the football field, Bell is currently one of the top players for the Warriors as they try to get into the playoffs this year. As a senior on the gridiron, Bell had 70 tackles, four interceptions and two touchdowns while playing in just over five games because of an ankle injury.

Bell was one of the more secretive prospects in the Class of 2004, never even giving a hint of where he was going to attend school. The 6-2 ½, 205-pounder with 4.5 speed is expected to come in and challenge right away at the free safety position.
