Defensive Tackle Joins Auburn Signee List

The Tigers signed a heavily recruited lineman known for making big plays.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.--Pat Sims, a defensive tackle with the quickness to be an effective pass rusher, signed scholarship papers on Wednesday to play for the Auburn Tigers.

The 6-2, 295-pounder keeps open Auburn's pipeline to talent-rich Dillard High, a school that sent the Tigers current defensive players Junior Rosegreen and Stanley McClover as well as a host of stars from previous Tiger teams.

Sims, who was recruited by colleges in a variety of conferences around the country, narrowed his final list to Auburn and Rutgers after also considering Michigan State, Pitt, Iowa, Mississippi State, Florida and others. He made 65 tackles as a senior at Dillard.

The Tigers have had a series of key players from Dillard contribute on the field since the early 1990s with performers like Otis Mounds, James Bostic, Calvin Jackson, Charles Dorsey, Brian Robinson, Frank Sanders and others coming to play in the SEC for the Tigers.
