Brandon Jacobs Plans To Transfer

Auburn, Ala.--With the depth at tailback for the 2004 season one of Auburn's stable has decided to transfer for his senior season.

Brandon Jacobs, a running back for Auburn in 2003, has decided to transfer announced head coach Tommy Tuberville Friday.

"Brandon wanted to concentrate on playing running back and with Carnell (Williams) and Ronnie (Brown) returning, we agreed that he wouldn't get the playing time that he wanted. We wish him the best," said Tuberville.

Jacobs rushed for 446 yards on 72 carries, averaging 6.2 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns last season.

"I appreciate having the opportunity to play at Auburn," Jacobs said. "However, I want to concentrate on playing running back and I believe I will receive more playing time at another school. I am in the process of looking at a number of different schools."

Williams rushed for 1,307 yards and tied the school record with 17 touchdowns last season while Brown totaled 446 yards and five touchdowns. Brown ran for 1,008 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2002.
