AU Football Coaches Cooking For Charity

Auburn, Ala.--Members of the Auburn University football coaching staff will participate in a barbecue contest on Saturday to benefit charity.

The event, which will be held in front of Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, will officially start at 11:30 a.m. although the coaches will have been there for many hours by then trying to outdo the other coaches for the honor of the best ribs.

The winning ribs will be auctioned at noon to benefit the Partnership for Children, which helps pay for daycare for the children of low income working parents. Last year, former tight ends coach Steve Dennis was the cookoff winner.

Don Dunn, who coaches defensive tackles, auctions a visor at last year's charity cookoff. Dunn is considered one of the favorites in this year's contest.

Head football coach Tommy Tuberville will not be competing in the contest, but he is scheduled to appear at the event along with Aubie.

Beginning at 11:30 a.m. there will be barbecue plates for sale ($7 adults, $3 for children 10 and younger). At noon, in addition to the winning ribs the coaches will sign and auction a variety of Auburn souvenirs.

This is the third consecutive year for the event.
