AU One Of the Favorites For Big Offensive Lineman

This senior-to-be lists his favorite colleges and why he likes each one.

Atlanta, Ga.--North Springs High School offensive lineman Andre Barbour is going to be a real player to watch this fall.

At 6-5, 256 pounds, Barbour is just beginning to fill out his frame and is nowhere close to maxing out his potential. At least two schools have taken notice of his upside so far and both have responded with scholarship offers in turn.

"I've picked up offers from Duke and MTSU so far," Barbour said. "Those are my first two offers."

Who's made his top five to this point?

"I like Auburn, North Carolina, West Virginia, Florida and Oklahoma," he said. "I'm not ready to narrow things down right now. I'm going to take some unofficials and some official visits this summer to see all of the schools I can."

What stands out about the schools on his list?

Auburn: "They are the first school I've been to and I really like the facilities. The 60-yard indoor field and weight room are really nice."

North Carolina: "My coach has told me they have a beautiful campus. Also, their main thing is biology and stuff like that and I want to major in Biology or Sports Medicine."

West Virginia: "Coach Bird has told me they have the third largest weightroom in the country, and that they are about to add 22 million dollars worth of expansions to their stadium. I'm excited to see that."

Florida: "Channing Crowder used to be my teammate and I remember him saying how he was just blown away with the beauty of it down there."

Oklahoma: "I like Coach Stoops. It was great how they showed him in that documentary on ESPN. One of their coaches is supposed to be coming by my school soon."

What is most important to Barbour in picking a school? "The school period," he noted. "Both academics and athletics. With football, I just want a place that shows progress."

Would Andre describe himself as more of a run blocker or pass blocker? "I think I'm a better pass blocker. It's more of a challenge when you have to wait on them to come at you and they can bull rush like that. I'm a good tackle because I'm really strong."

The Atlanta prospect is a well rounded student athlete and boasts a 3.0 GPA as well as a 22 ACT. He should have no trouble qualifying academically.
