Defensive Tackle From Texas To Check Out Auburn

A talented prospect from a small town in Texas plans to make a trip to check out the Auburn football program.

Beaumont, Tex.--Ozen High School defensive tackle Brian West says Tech Texasis his early leader, but notes that he is interested in checking out Auburn.

The 6-4, 260-pounder garnered first-team all-district and first-team all-super gold honors for his play last season in district 20-4A. West totaled 76 tackles and three sacks in his junior campaign. Now he has recruiters' attention.

"I have offers from Texas Tech, Tulsa and Auburn," said West. "I also hear from Iowa and Kansas a lot, but I haven't received offers from them yet."

According to West, the Red Raiders are his current leader. "Being from a tiny, country town, I was amazed with their (Texas Tech's) facilities," said West. "They also have a really nice campus."

West, who is being recruited by Coach Ruffin McNeill of Texas Tech, mentioned that early playing time is one of the more attractive aspects of the Red Raiders. "At this point, my decision would definitely be Texas Tech," West said.

West also mentioned that he planned on visiting the Auburn campus to see what the Tigers have to offer.

"I want to check out Auburn to see their campus and facilities," he noted. "They also pointed out that I am they only player in Texas that they are going after so that's a pretty good feeling."

With plans to camp at Houston, Auburn and TCU this summer, expect Brian to pick up more offers. He also plans on reaching his decision prior to the start of his senior season so his recruitment is one to keep an eye on.
