Cadillac Heads Coaches All-SEC Selections

Birmingham, Ala.--Auburn senior Carnell Williams was the only unanimous pick for the 2004 Coaches' Preseason All-SEC team and fellow Tiger tailback Ronnie Brown is a second team selection.

The Cadillac, a senior from Attalla, Ala., rushed for 1,307 yards and 17 touchdowns last season. Williams was named SEC Offensive Player of the week for three consecutive weeks as a junior. He was joined on the first team by senior cornerback Carlos Rogers and junior offensive tackle Marcus McNeill.

Williams, Georgia defensive end David Pollack, Georgia defensive back Thomas Davis and Tennessee punter Dustin Colquitt were the only other unanimous choices from the Southeastern Conference coaches in the inaugural SEC Coaches' Preseason All-SEC Team.

Each SEC squad had at least two players on the combined squads. LSU led all schools with 13 selections, including nine on the first-team. Georgia, Tennessee and Ole Miss each had 10 players selected, with Georgia having six players on the first-team.

The Georgia pair of Pollack and Davis highlight the defensive side of the pigskin. Pollack, a senior from Snellville, Ga., was a first-team All-America last season by the American Football Coaches Association. He finished 2003 with 92 total tackles, including 13.5 for losses and 7.5 sacks. He was named SEC Player of the Year by the league¹s coaches in 2002.

Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown were named first and second team All-SEC running backs by the SEC coaches.

Davis, a junior from Shellman, Ga., was a first-team All-SEC pick by AP and a second-team All-SEC choice by the league's coaches in 2003. He led the SEC in total tackles last season with 138, including eight for losses and 4.5 sacks.

Colquitt, a senior from Knoxville, led the SEC and was sixth in the nation last season in punting with a 45.3 yard average on 68 attempts. Last season, he was named first-team All-America by AP, Walter Camp, Sporting News and the Football Writers Association of America. He was a unanimous first-team All-SEC selection by the league's coaches. He had 19 punts over 50 yards and 21 punts inside the 20-yard line.
