Hot 100 Prospect High On The Tigers

A report is featured on one of the state of Alabama's top football prospects.

Huntsville, Ala.--Three star rated tight end Careg Bonner has been impressing college coaches all summer. Bonner now holds five offers.

"I have a new offer from Louisville," he says. "I like Louisville. They signed Davis Manning last year, who was the quarterback at Grissom High School. We both went to the same middle school and have been friends for a long time. Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, and Kentucky have been the only other schools that have offered me."

Bonner, a 6-3, 230 pound senior at Huntsville High School, attended Auburn's camp in July and was impressed. "I really enjoyed it," he says. "We did seven-on-seven drills that I really liked, along with a lot of one-on-one competition."

The Auburn coaching staff also made a strong impression with Bonner. "I talked with Coach (Don) Dunn, who is my recruiting coach, Coach (Tommy) Tuberville, and the tight ends' coach (Steve Ensminger). I liked them . I like what they are trying to do there. I understand how they run their offense. They run the ball because they have Cadillac (Carnell Williams) and Ronnie Brown." said Bonner.

When asked about a favorite, Bonner says, "Alabama and Auburn are right there together now. Tennessee, Michigan, and Mississippi State are close behind them."

Bonner is staying busy on the phone talking with several coaches. "I talk to Coach Ball(Alabama) a lot. I talk to Coach Dunn (Auburn) and I tried to call to Coach Jordan from Nebraska but he didn't answer."

The South Hot 100 tight end is ready for a big senior year. "We had two-a-days (Wednesday). We are going full pads on Thursday. We are looking a lot better. We should have a lot of people step up this year."

Bonner will try to attend several games this fall. "I am going to the Alabama/Auburn game, the Tennessee/Auburn game, maybe the Tennessee/Alabama game. I might go to a Purdue game. They have started sending me a lot of stuff. I sat down and talked with my coach about them. They spread it out and throw the ball a lot. I will probably wait until at least mid-season before I make my decision."
