Five Star Defensive Tackle Favors Tigers

This nationally known defensive tackle prospect now has a short list of colleges and lists Auburn at the top.

Waynesboro, Miss.--Jerrell Powe is one of the top players in the country and the big man has now trimmed his list to three.

"I like Auburn, LSU and Nebraska the best," Powe said. "Auburn is my leader."

Why are the Tigers out front?

"I just like them," the 6-3, 322-pounder noted. "I haven't visited the other two schools yet so I'm just going by what I've seen."

What stands out about the other teams on his list?

LSU: "I like Coach Muschamp and their defense. They also have a young tailback that's really good."

NE: "It's just the all around name of the school. I like their tradtion and Coach Blake is a good man."

What is most important to Jerrell in picking a school?

"I just want somewhere I can play and win championships," Powe explained.

Does the big defensive tackle plan on taking all his official visits?

"I will visit all three of those schools. If I decide to take all five visits the other two places I'll go are Miami and Florida State."
