Coaches Update Football Depth Chart

Auburn, Ala.--The Auburn football coaching staff released its first revised depth chart of the preseason on Monday and it features several newcomers in the two-deep rotation.

Among the newcomers making a push for playing time are true freshman offensive lineman Leon Hart, who is listed as the backup to Marcus McNeill at left tackle.

Defensively, several fresh faces are listed among the top three at their positions heading into the 2004 season. Among them are defensive ends Quentin Groves and Christopher Browder, while true freshmen Tony Bell and Steve Gandy are both listed as third-team safeties with a chance to move up the ladder quickly.

As expected, junior Travis Williams is ahead of senior Mayo Sowell at the middle linebacker position while Kevin Sears and Antarrious Williams join him on the first team.

Coach Tommy Tuberville gave the Tigers a day off on Monday after having their second major scrimmage of the preseason on Friday evening at Jordan-Hare Stadium and following it with a practice in shorts on Saturday and a pull pads workout on Sunday. Auburn is expected to scrimmage at least one more time before opening the season at home on Sept. 4th vs. Louisiana-Monroe.
