AU Women's Hoops Team Cracks Top 25

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn's women's basketball team has raced out to a 9-0 start for the 2001-02 campaign and for its effort has been ranked No. 25 in this week's Associated Press Top 25.

The Tigers were in the polls last season for the first nine weeks after getting out to a 12-0 start. Auburn got as high as ninth in the polls before hitting a skid that knocked them out of the rankings in January.

Auburn is outscoring its opponents this season by an average of 75.1 to 51.9 through nine games. The Tigers are led in scoring by sophomores Tia Miller and Le'Coe Willingham who are averaging 12.8 and 11.3 ppg, respectively. Willingham leads the team in rebounding with an average of 8.0 per contest.

The Tigers return to action Sunday, Dec. 16, when they face Florida State at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum at 2 p.m. The Seminoles are currently ranked 25th in the Coaches' Poll.
