Peach Bowl Ticket Sales Going Well

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn University ticket manager Tim Jackson announced on Friday that the university has sold approximately 12,000 Peach Bowl tickets with 75 percent of the orders received so far via the internet.

"We're pleased with how ticket sales have gone this week," Jackson said. "We have received a great response over the internet and we will continue to sell tickets on-line until we're sold out. Mail orders are still being accepted."

The Tigers will play the North Carolina Tarheels on New Year's Eve at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Auburn officials are hoping that despite the disappointment of back-to-back losses to Alabama and LSU that Tiger fans will send a strong vote of support for their team by showing up in large numbers in Atlanta. Their reasoning is that will help the Tigers secure bowl bids in future seasons and assure that AU won't get left out of the bowl mix like Ole Miss did this season.

Auburn Athletic Director David Housel said, "During the selection process it was important to the bowl representatives that Auburn was a team that generated a lot of fan support. It was important last year, this year and it will be even more important in the future. The more tickets we sell, the more attractive Auburn will be in the future during the bowl selection process."

Auburn, which finished 7-4 overall, tied LSU for the SEC West championship with a 5-3 league mark.

Tickets for the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl are $55 and can be purchased on-line at, by phone at 1-800-AUB-1957 or in person at the ticket office at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.
