Tuberville Suspends WR Deandre Green

Auburn, Ala.--Coach Tommy Tuberville suspended sophomore wide receiver Deandre Green from the Auburn football team on Saturday.

The 6-2, 210-pounder from Prichard, who started five games this past season, is suspended "indefinitely," according to Tuberville, who said that Green cannot practice for the Peach Bowl game or play in that New Year's Eve contest vs. North Carolina.

Deandre Green catches a TD pass vs. Louisiana Tech.

The coach did not give a specific reason other than a violation of a team rule. Green practiced on Friday and was on the sidelines at the Saturday evening practice, but he was not in uniform.

"This is a team sport," Tuberville said. "We talked about it and we just have to go on. It is one of those things. It is just like having an injury. Somebody has to step up."

Green caught 32 passes for 339 yards this season with two touchdowns. Last season, he caught 23 balls for 240 yards and two scores following a season at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia. He was an All-State performer at Blount High in Prichard where he was a three-time Class 5A All-State performer.

Tuberville noted that Green could be back with the team after the bowl game and added, "I evaluate each player differently and each circumstance differently." The coach also said, "We will see what happens after the bowl game."

The Tigers, who practiced twice on Saturday, will have one workout on Sunday and then have two practices daily through Friday.
