LSU Star Discusses Loss To Auburn

Cornerback Corey Webster and LSU had a tough loss at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Auburn, Ala.--LSU All-American cornerback Cory Webster said that he and his LSU teammates knew they were in a battle on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

"It was a war," the LSU senior said after his team lost 10-9 to Auburn in a key SEC West football game. "They were fighting, we were fighting and it was a well-played game. It came down to the end and they came up with the win.

"That's what happens sometimes," Webster added. "We came up a little short in the end. We needed a defensive stop and just couldn't get it. We're going to work and try to get things right."

Auburn scored the winning touchdown with 1:14 remaining when Jason Campbell found Courtney Taylor in the end zone for a 16-yard touchdown pass play that gave Auburn the victory.

Webster is one of the top defensive players in the SEC.

"We were playing real good defense and we stopped them the whole game," Webster said. "It's kind of frustrating giving up that pass at the end when we were doing so well. Sometimes it happens like that, but you have to learn from it. Our job was to play for 60 minutes and we didn't do that. We've just got to go back to the drawing board and fix that."

Webster and his Tigers dropped to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the SEC. Auburn improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
