Tigers Vs. Vols Scheduled For ESPN

Auburn, Ala.--ESPN had first selection of any SEC game to pick for the weekend of Oct. 2nd and that television network will feature Auburn's road trip to Knoxville to play the Tennessee Volunteers.

Kickoff is set for 6:45 p.m. CDT from Neyland Stadium. The Vols are 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the SEC. Auburn is 2-0 in the SEC and 3-0 overall.

Both the Tigers and Volunteers are heavily favored to win this week. Auburn takes on The Citadel this Saturday while UT is at home vs. Louisiana Tech, a team that Auburn will play the following week after traveling to Knoxville.

Auburn is ranked ninth in this week's AP Top 25 poll and 10th in the ESPN/USA Today ranking. The Vols are 11th in the AP poll and eighth in the ESPN/USA Today poll.

Auburn leads the series vs. UT 23-21-3, including a 28-21 victory last season. In games played at Knoxville, the Vols own a 14-4-2 advantage. Auburn has a record of 30-23-2 in games televised by ESPN.

When the Tigers and Vols played annually before the switch to divisional play in the SEC, their early season meetings were traditionally one of the best games in the league. This season's matchup has the potential to carry on that tradition.
