Powers Enjoys "Exciting" Adventure

This fast and physical defensive back says he had a great trip to Auburn this past weekend to see the Tigers play LSU.

Decatur, Ala.--Jerraud Powers is one of the top defensive prospects in the state of Alabama this year, and the 5-9, 160-pound defensive back, who is very physical and has plenty of speed to play defensive back in the SEC, was in Auburn on Saturday to see the Tigers' 10-9 win over LSU.

"The trip went pretty good and the game was exciting," Powers notes. "I wasn't expecting it."

He adds that the football had to be the best part of his trip. "I guess the game probably, the fourth quarter of the game," he says. "It was very exciting. I haven't ever been to a game that was that close."

Jerraud Powers is shown at an Auburn Football Camp this summer.

He also notes that as a defender he really liked the struggle between two great defenses. "I loved it," Powers says. "I was paying every bit of attention to it."

The defensive back says that he got to go down and speak with some of the Tigers' players. "After the game in the locker room I got to talk to some of them," he notes. "There was a lot of excitement down there."

Overall, Powers explains that he really enjoyed the experience. "I liked it a lot, he notes. "I enjoyed it and I will definitely be back down there some. Probably for the Georgia game."

On the recruiting front, Powers says that everything is the same with Alabama and Auburn still neck and neck for the lead and everyone else trailing behind.

But, nothing is staying the same for Decatur High as it just keeps on winning this season. The Red Raiders are now 3-0 after beating Grissom 24-0 two weeks ago.

Along with his team getting off to a good start, Powers is off to quite a start himself after already grabbing two interceptions this season.
