Auburn Fall Baseball: Photo Gallery 1

New Auburn baseball coach Tommy Slater and his team opened fall practice Wednesday afternoon.

A sight for sore eyes for Auburn baseball fans is the return of Karl Amonite to the Tigers this season. The big first baseman sat out last season with an elbow problem, but has looked good this fall swinging the bat.

Shortstop Phillip Stringer is an immediate help for the Tigers with the loss of three-year starter Chuck Jeroloman. Stringer transferred from Tulane.

T.J. Johnstone was expected to be Auburn's third baseman last season, but an injured arm kept him out the entire season. Johnstone has tremendous speed and could be Auburn's second baseman this season. Wednesday he had hits in his first two at-bats and also stole two bases.

Junior college outfielder Jeff Boutwell should bring some pop to the position this season for the Tigers. He homered off pitcher Chris Dennis during Wednesday's scrimmage game.

Arizona State transfer Josh Blake has looked good on the mound this fall and should challenge for one of the starting spots for the Tigers.
