"I have set up official visits with Alabama, Auburn, and Memphis," the defensive back explains. "I am going to Alabama, December 10-12. I am going to Auburn sometime in early January and I can't remember when I am going to Memphis," said Powers.
Powers says the two in-state schools are not making it easy for him to name a favorite.
"Both Alabama and Auburn have really good people," he says. "I could see myself playing at either one. I like both coaching staffs and that is what makes it really difficult. I guess more and more as the day comes, I will start to feel better and more comfortable about one school over the other."
Though Powers has set three visits, he says a decision could be reached sooner.
"It still might be right after the season," Powers notes. "I hope I can decide by then, but if not, it won't be until after my visits. I probably will go on all my visits, even if I do make a commitment. I have talked to my recruiting coaches. They said I would have to talk to the head coach about that."
The 5-9, 160-pound defensive back says that coaches from his favorites are staying in contact.
"I have been talking to Coach Helton (Memphis), Coach Caldwell (Vanderbilt), Coach Hobby (Ole Miss), Coach Dunn and Coach Chizik (Auburn), and Coach Ball (Alabama)," he notes. "Those coaches have been staying in contact with me every week."
Decatur is having an outstanding year and Powers knows each game will not get any easier. "The season has been going good," he says. "We are ranked #3 in 6A(6-0). This week, we play Hazel Green (5-1) at Home. We are ready for them. I hope we can stay undefeated. It is going to get tougher every week."
