Louisiana Lineman Likes Tigers

This recruit played on both the offensvie and defensive lines in high school.

LaFayette, La.--Teurlings Catholic High School two-way performer Chadd Felps says that Auburn is one of his favorite colleges.

The 6-4 1/2, 270-pounder defensive end/tackle and offensive tackle has made two unofficial visits to see the Tigers in action at Jordan-Hare Stadium and says he likes what he has seen. "I like everything about Auburn," he tells Inside the Auburn Tigers. "I like the coaches, the people I met there and the campus."

Felps says that he is also being recruited by Florida, hometown Louisiana-LaFayette (formerly Southwestern Louisiana) and Arizona. He hasn't set an official visit date yet with the Tigers, but says he is in regular contact with Auburn receivers coach Greg Knox and expects to be in Auburn later this month for a visit.

When asked what he believes his best position is, Felps says, "Probably offensive tackle. I think I am pretty quick for my size. I would like to get better on defense at breaking down quicker."

Felps, who says his best 40-yard dash time is 5.0, has played football since he was a seventh grader. He helped his team post a 12-2 record his senior season.

Tiger Ticket Extra: Felps says he scored a 19 on his ACT, an improvement over an earlier test, which now makes him a more attractive prospect...In the spring, the lineman throws the shot put and discus. His personal bests are 49 feet with the shot and 150 feet with the discus...He is the strongest athlete at Teurlings Catholic. He can bench press 350 pounds and won a school strength contest earlier this school year...His two unofficial visits to Auburn were to attend last spring's A-Day Game and to the Alabama at Auburn football game in November.

Felps says he likes the Auburn campus and the people he met on his unofficial trips to AU.
