Four Star Defensive Recruit Chooses Auburn

Auburn picked up another football verbal commitment for the 2005 signee class.

New Orleans, La.--Alonzo Horton, of the more highly regarded defensive prospects in the South, told Inside the Auburn Tigers on Monday night that he plans to sign with the Tigers.

Horton, a 6-3, 222-pounder with 4.7 speed, also considered Michigan State, Nebraska, LSU, Florida and Miami. Horton was a standout this summer at an Auburn football camp.

Rated a four star prospect by Scout.com, he also played linebacker in high school, but says he plans to play defensive end in college.

He says it feels good to make a decision and that he is through with recruiting except for making an official visit to Auburn in January.

Horton says he had a "gut" feeling that Auburn was the right place to go and he notes that the Tigers were the first to offer a scholarship early in the year.
