Auburn, Ala.--The Auburn women's basketball team suffered a severe blow Monday afternoon when it learned that starting center Tia Miller will be lost for the season after suffering a torn ACL during Auburn's loss to Tennessee last Thursday.
The 6-2 sophomore has been the backbone of the Auburn team this season leading them in scoring with 12.6 points per game and also pulling down 6.9 rebounds. A partial qualifier last season out of Boca Ciega, Fla., Miller had just begun to get a feel for the schemes of Coach Joe Ciampi
when the injury occurred.
"We have empathy for Tia," Ciampi said. "She has worked very hard to get to this point in her career and now she has something like this happen. She was having a great season for us and we will most certainly miss her in our lineup."
The 19th-ranked Tigers return to action without Miller on Thursday night when they host No. 15 Georgia at 7 p.m.
