This football recruiting report features comments from one of the more highly recruited linemen in the South.
New Albany, Miss.--Auburn is looking for a few good men on the offensive front. One of those type of prospects who took an official visit to Auburn this weekend says he is impressed with the AU program.
Jay Kirkland, a 6-4, 300-pounder from New Albany High School, had earlier committed to Ole Miss, but has opened recruiting to other options.
A four-year starter at left tackle, the All-State performer is one of the more heavily recruited offensive linemen in the South. "I have been to Ole Miss, (Mississippi) State and LSU and I go to Florida next weekend," Kirkland says. "I might even make my decision before I go on my Florida visit. I might just go there for a sight-see visit.
"I like Auburn a lot," Kirkland adds. "The people are real laid back. Coach Tubs is a real nice guy. I think I would fit in real well."
Tiger Ticket Extra: Kirkland had more than 100 pancake blocks as a senior and graded 92 percent.
