Big Lineman Calls Visit "Awesome"

This visitor to Auburn is not shy about giving his weekend in Auburn a rave review.

Mandeville, La.--Rudy Odum, a 6-5 1/2, 270-pound defensive linemen has been an Auburn commitment since mid-November and says he enjoyed his official visit to check out the Tigers this weekend.

"It went awesome," he says. "I had a great time. Josh Thompson was my player host. They took us out to eat and we went back to his house and played some video games and chilled the whole time.

"Saturday night the best part was getting the jerseys and we got to wear them," Odum adds. "The bad part was that we had to give them back, but it was fun wearing them."

Odum finished his senior season at Fontainebleau High School in Mandeville with 93 tackles, 24 tackles for a loss and 11 quarterback sacks. He had been to Auburn two other times, once for a camp and the other to see Auburn's 24-6 victory over Georgia this past season.

On his visit to Auburn this weekend, Odum was able to see what Auburn is like away from the football field.

"I met some (of the academic staff)," he says. "We went and talked because I was looking to go into kinesiology and so we went and talked to the academic advisor and all of that stuff. We just went over what I should be doing right now with my grades and everything. Everything's fine," Odum adds. "I'm eligible."

Aside from his visits to Auburn, Odum was also able to check out the Tigers during their Sugar Bowl practices in New Orleans. He played defensive end in high school but is projected to play inside at the college level.
