The 6-3, 215-pounder with 4.7 speed is considered one of the top tight end prospects in the South and at a 10 a.m. press conference at his school he plans to put an end to his recruiting. After taking visits to Tuscaloosa earlier and just last weekend to Auburn, McKenzie was thought to be headed to Miami this coming weekend, but he's decided to cancel that visit and make a commitment.
A standout at tight end, McKenzie had 26 catches for 367 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior. Running the ball more his senior season, the offense didn't get him the ball as much but he still managed 15 catches for 200 yards and three touchdowns while also seeing some time at defensive end.
Before taking his visit to Auburn last weekend McKenzie said that the Tigers were his leader and after leaving nothing had changed. With his visit to Miami no longer in the works, it looks like unless something changes the Tigers are in good position to get a commitment from McKenzie on Wednesday.
We will have full coverage of McKenzie's press conference with photos and quotes following the event. Stay tuned on Wednesday for more on the situation.
