Golston Going to the Dawgs

One of the South's most heavily recruited defensive tackles makes his pick.

Tyrone, Ga.--Defensive tackle Kedric Golston announced on Saturday that he will sign with the Georgia Bulldogs.

The 6-4, 260-pound defensive tackle narrowed his choices to Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee. He made his decision known on Jamie Newburg's Countdown to Kickoff television show on Saturday.

Golston got an in-home visit with Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia coaches this week. "The visit with Coach Tuberville and the Auburn coaches was nice," Golston says. "I enjoyed it a lot. Coach (Eddie) Gran, Coach (Don) Dunn and Coach (Terry) Price were there. There were six of them in all."

Commenting on Auburn, where he took his official visit last weekend, he says, "Auburn is a great situation for me," he says. "Because of their numbers, it is a must play situation. I like the fact that Georgia is a program on the uprise and it does have a good history. At Tennessee, you get to play before 102,000 or 103,000 people every Saturday."

On the TV show, Golston said, "Me and Coach (assistant Rodney) Garner have a very good relationship that goes past football. I like Coach (head man Mark) Richt as a coach. He has something special in his eyes when you look at him. He is going to do good things in the SEC."
