One More Visit Scheduled For All-Star Recruit

This prospect isn't ready yet to announce a decision on his college destination.

Pompano Beach, Fla.--Speedy cornerback prospect Walter McFadden of Blanche Ely High School says he has one more official visit before announcing his college decision.

McFadden won't name a leader at this point, but he says he will pick from a group that includes "Auburn, Florida, South Florida or Michigan State."

The 6-0, 175 cornerback says, "It's still kind of out there, but it's getting to the last week for the recruiting and I still have a Florida visit."

Florida Coach Urban Meyer and the Gators' new coaching staff will have some ground to make up on McFadden with signing day less than two weeks away. "So far I haven't met them yet, but I go to Florida next weekend and everything's going to be done after that visit," he says.

McFadden camped at Auburn last summer and took his official to see the Tigers play against Arkansas on Oct. 16. "I'm being recruited by (running backs coach) Eddie Gran," he says. "We get along real good."

The 6-0, 175-pound cornerback has also visited Michigan State and South Florida. South Carolina showed early interested in McFadden, but has since backed off.

Last Monday McFadden played in the Broward-Dade All-Star Game that features prospects from two talent-laden south Florida counties. "I did my job," he says. "I didn't get caught (out of position) any. They only threw three passes my way and I played almost the whole game. I probably played all four quarters really and I only had three passes thrown my way and all of them were broken (up). I guess I did my job."

McFadden finished his senior season with 56 tackles, seven pass break-ups, three interceptions, three kickoff return touchdowns and one punt return touchdown.

"I was back returning kicks, but I didn't get the ball kicked to me that night," he says of the all-star game.

It looks like the defensive back is going to keep several colleges and fans guessing for a while longer on where he will attend college.

"I'll probably announce on signing day," McFadden says of his final decision. "I'll probably know about a week before signing day and I'll call the schools up and let them know."
