Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville and his Tigers were presented two trophies.
On accepting the James E. Foy ODK Trophy for defeating Alabama, Auburn head football coach Tuberville said, "It's great to be back. We want to thank all of you (fans). We had a great group of seniors this year, and it's always good to be the best team in the state for the third year in a row.
Before accepting the first People's National Championship Trophy, Tuberville said, "It's an honor and a pleasure when you go 13-0 and you know you have a great football team. Obviously at the end of the year we didn't get to play in the game that we wanted to (Orange Bowl), but we won the Sugar Bowl and we were the best team in the country."
The People's National Championship Trophy was presented to Auburn by George Brown at halftime. The trophy is in its first year.
Coach Tommy Tuberville gives the crowd a thrill when he talks about Auburn's third win in a row over Alabama.
Dr. James Foy, the long-time dean of students at Auburn, leads the crowd in a big 'War Eagle' following the ceremony. The trophy is named in honor of the retired dean.
