After Late Battle Horton Signs With Tigers

A wild recruiting saga came to an end on Wednesday when Alonzo Horton signed with Auburn.

New Orleans, La.--After switching commitments between Auburn and Ole Miss late in the recruiting process, Alonzo Horton of Abramson High School has honored his original commitment and signed with the Tigers.

Horton, a tremendous athlete, is rated as the 10th-rated defensive end prospect in the country by Scout.com. In only is second year of playing football Horton racked up 106 tackles, 23 sacks, five blocked kicks and two forced fumbles at end as a junior.

His senior season he played mostly linebacker and still produced the same kind of numbers--125 tackles, 16 sacks, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and three blocked kicks. Horton was listed as 6-2, 209 as a junior, but is still growing and is now listed as 6-4, 225.

Horton committed to Auburn on Nov. 8, switched his commitment to Ole Miss after visiting Oxford on Jan. 21, but switched back to Auburn the day after returning home. He also had offers from Florida, LSU, Tennessee, Nebraska, Michigan State and others.
