Early Verbal Commitment Follows Signs With AU

Auburn added more depth to the offensive line when this big lineman signed with the Tigers on Wednesday.

Columbus, Ga.--The first Auburn commitment of the 2005 signing class, Michael Harness of Pacelli High has signed with the Tigers.

Harness committed to Auburn all the way back on April 28, 2004. He followed up a strong junior season with an even better senior campaign. In his two seasons at Pacelli, Harness has been playing the tackle position and has not allowed one sack on his quarterback during that time.

Michael Harness hung and signed with the Tigers after being the first verbal commitment for the class of 2005 back in April.

Despite pledging early to Auburn, he was recruited by colleges across the country throughout the 2004 season, but told all comers that he was not interested and he was headed to Auburn.

Harness is capable of playing center, guard or tackle, but will most likely play center for the Tigers. He is listed as 6-3, 300 pounds and could already bench press 405 pounds and squat 475 by his junior year.

He chose Auburn over Florida, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma among others.
