Heavily Recruited Trahan Signs With the Tigers

This defensive standout signed on the dotted line to play for Tommy Tuberville's Auburn Tigers.

New Orleans, La.--Auburn signed another highly recruited defensive prospect, Patrick Trahan of St. Augustine High School in New Orleans.

Trahan is one of three players from the state of Louisiana expected to join the 2005 Auburn football team. Defensive tackle Rudy Odom of Mandeville and defensive end Alonzo Horton of New Orleans are expected to be Tigers, too.

Patrick Trahan

Trahan, who had 125 tackles, nine sacks, two interceptions and 10 forced fumbles as a senior, fits the mold of many defensive prospects who have signed with Auburn in recent years. He is very athletic and has the potential to play at several positions.

Though he played with his hand on the ground in high school, Trahan could play safety at the college level or he could play outside linebacker in the Tigers' 4-3 system.

Trahan, who is 6-3, 212 pounds, committed to Auburn on Sept. 21 and chose the Tigers over LSU, Florida, Nebraska, Ole Miss and others. Trahan says he is impressed with the way the Auburn plays defense, the overall program and its prospects for the future.
