Antone Smith Picks FSU

Pahokee, Fla.--Antone Smith, ranked as the nation's top running back prospect by, announced on Wednesday that he will play college football for the Florida State Seminoles.

Smith narrowed his final choice to four schools--Miami, FSU and Florida in addition to the Auburn Tigers.

As a senior, he led Pahokee High to the Class 2A state title by rushing for 2,814 yards and 44 touchdowns. In the state championship game, he ran for three TDs and 276 yards.

Smith took his fourth and final official visit to FSU last weekend. After that trip, he said, "I am still very much open. I don't have a favorite."

The 5-9, 185-pounder has been clocked (hand-timed) at under 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. He ran a 4.41 time, the fastest at the event, last spring at the MSL Combine in Miami.

Smith, who had a 40-inch vertical jump, is also one of the physically strongest high school seniors in the country.
