Versatile Lineman Inks With Tigers

This big lineman from the Peach State chose the Tigers on Wednesday.

Ellenwood, Ga.--Auburn added to an already stellar recruiting class with the addition of standout offensive lineman Jonathan Palmer from Cedar Grove High.

At a press conference at his high school while wearing an Auburn football jersey (78), the 6-6, 315-pound, 4.98 Palmer signed a National Letter of Intent to play football with the Auburn Tigers. Palmer is considered one of the top student-athletes in the South and chose the Tigers over Clemson, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State and others. He had more than 80 scholarship offered to him counting academic offers.

"I like the coaches at Auburn and it is a good opportunity for playing time," Palmer says of the Tigers. "I loved my official visit there. The Auburn program is impressive and I think the team has a bright future."

Jonathan Palmer will play for the Tigers.

A very versatile lineman who played all five positions on the offensive line as a senior, Palmer projects as an offensive tackle on the next level despite being recruited by several schools as a defensive lineman. He was named Cedar Grove's top defensive lineman this past season and top student/athlete and was All-DeKalb as an offensive performer.

Palmer was named his school's top student athlete. He also plays center and power forward on the Cedar Grove basketbal team.
