Sullivan Named SEC Pitcher Of The Week

Auburn, Ala.--Junior right-handed pitcher Josh Sullivan was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week after his complete game shutout against VMI on Saturday.

Earning the first conference honors for an Auburn pitcher since 2002, Sullivan was dominant against the Keydets at Plainsman Park Saturday afternoon as he earned his third victory of the season.

Throwing just 95 pitches in nine innings, Sullivan allowed just three hits and didn't walk a single VMI batter. At one point he retired 17 consecutive batters and didn't allow a runner to reach second base during the game.

Sullivan has reached speeds of 94 MPH with his fastball this season and has improved with each outing.

In his first year as a starting pitcher Sullivan is now 3-1 with a 1.82 earned run average. He has struck out 27 hitters and walked just two in 29 and two/thirds innings.

Sullivan and the Tigers travel to Troy for the first time since 1985 Tuesday night as they face the Trojans for the final time this season. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. This weekend Auburn takes on Tennessee for a three-game series to open SEC play. Tickets for the series are currently on sale at or you can order them by calling 1-800-AUB-1957.
