Tigers Look For Series Sweep Vs. Georgia Tech

Auburn, Ala.--An earlier meeting vs. Georgia Tech helped put the baseball team into the national Top 25 polls. On Tuesday night the Tigers will look to duplicate that victory as the Yellow Jackets come to Plainsman Park for an SEC vs. ACC baseball showdown.

The first pitch for "All Auburn, All Orange" night is scheduled for 7 p.m. CDT as the 16th-ranked Tigers, 21-10 overall, take on the Yellow Jackets, who are ranked as high as third nationally. Tech is 23-6 overall.

Auburn's players will be wearing orange caps, jerseys and stirrups on Tuesday night. Each intercollegiate Auburn team is having an "All Orange" theme home game.

Auburn leads the all-time series going back to the days when Tech was a member of the Southeastern Conference. AU's last victory over the Tech, which is a baseball power in the ACC, was one of the most exciting games in the series as Auburn rallied for a comeback 7-6 win in 11 innings in Atlanta two weeks ago.

Josh Donaldson scored from third base with two outs in the top of the 11 on a wild pitch for the winning margin and Michael Nix closed the game for the win. He pitched four scoreless innings that night.

Josh Donaldson picked up his first homer of the season vs. Arkansas.

Josh Bell had a big night for the Tigers, who rallied from a 5-1 deficit. He drilled a two-run homer and a solo shot. The catcher and designated hitter is currently on a 10-game hitting streak.

The Tigers will be trying to bounce from a Sunday loss to Arkansas as they failed to sweep the three-game series from the Razorbacks after winning on Friday and Saturday. Coach Tom Slater is expected to pitch freshman right-hander Cliff Mullins while Tech will counter with sophomore left Ryan Turner, who is 2-1 with a 2.86 earned run average. Mullins is 1-0 with a 2.25 earned run average.

Since the Tigers and Yellow Jackets started their current annual series Tech is 2-2 in games played at Plainsman Park. The game will be televised regionally on CSS. The first 500 fans will receiver orange drink huggers.
