Tigers Doubles Team Advances to NCAA Quarters

College Station, Tex.--Auburn's doubles team of Alex Schweizer and Gabor Zoltan Pelva advanced into the third round at the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament with an upset victory over the third-seeded team.

Playing at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center at Texas A&M, the Tigers took a straight sets victory over Benedikt Dorsch and Matija Zgaga of Baylor, 6-1, 6-2.

Next up for the Tigers in the quarter-finals is a Saturday match against the nation's 30th ranked team, Jonathan Chu and Ashwin Kumar of Harvard. Chu and Kumar beat Southern Cal's Jamil Al-Agba and Johan Berg, 7-6, 5-7, 6-3.

Auburn coach Eric Shore was pleased with the victory. "This was a great win for Alex and Gabor," AU Coach Eric Shore said. "They will face a touch challenge tomorrow, but with the way they played today it looked like they were on their game and really playing well together."

Pelva advanced to the second round of singles play, but was elminated on Thursday by Ken Anderson of Illinois.
