Defensive Prospect Shows Up Well at AU Camp

This athletic defensive end from Florida is a player who is interested in the Tigers.

Oakland Park, Fla.--In a camp featuring a large number of talented athletes, Audie Augustine was one of the standout performers when he attended Auburn's final football prospect camp of the summer.

The defensive end from Northeast High School checked in at 6-3, 226 pounds and ran a very impressive 4.6 40-yard dash on Saturday.

On the subject of impressive, Augustine says the camp on the Auburn campus fit that description. "It was a great experience," he says. "It went really well for me. I got to met players, see the campus and talk to coaches," Augustine tells Inside the Auburn Tigers. "I got to meet Coach (Terry) Price, who is a tremendous coach."

Augustine says that Price, who coaches defensive ends for the Tigers, gave him some tips that should make him more effective as a senior. As a junior, Augustine made 73 tackles with seven quarterback sacks.

The defensive end says Auburn is one of the colleges he is seriously considering. "I am looking at Auburn, of course, along with Florida State, Oklahoma and Pittsburgh. That is pretty much it." He has scholarship offers from each of those colleges.

When asked if he has any favorites, Augustine says, "Auburn and Florida State." He says he definitely plans to be back for an official visit to Auburn later this year "and probably Florida State as well."

A three-year starter, Augustine says he believes his strength as a football player is his quickness and how quickly he "gets off the ball" at the line of scrimmage.
