Hart Honored By Southeastern Conference

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn sophomore Leon Hart has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Making his first career start Saturday against the Kentucky Wildcats, Leon Hart graded out a team-best 97 percent against the Wildcats and had four pancake blocks in Auburn's 49-27 victory.

Playing 64 snaps at right tackle in place of usual starter Troy Reddick, Hart paced an offensive line that paved the way for an Auburn season-high 589 yards at Kentucky.

The 6-4, 293 Hart played his best career game Saturday against Kentucky.

Auburn rushed for 388 yards and six touchdowns, and was one Tre Smith yard away from having three 100-yard rushers, as Tristan Davis piled up 162 yards and Kenny Irons ran for 103. Auburn also threw for 201 yards and the Tiger offensive line did not allow a sack.

"I think I played well," Hart said. "I was running around out there having fun, knocking the mess out of people. I think I had a good game."

A true sophomore from Columbia, S.C., Hart was one of the top offensive line prospects in the country two years ago. He has played three different positions in two seasons at Auburn, but appears able and ready to step in at tackle next season for the Tigers with the loss of Reddick and All-American candidate Marcus McNeill.

Hart's honor marks the eighth time an Auburn player has been recognized as an SEC Player of the Week this season. The other recipients have included: Will Herring (Defense - Sept. 10), Brad Lester (Freshman - Sept. 17 and Oct. 1), Blake Field (Freshman - Sept. 24), Travis Williams (Defense - Oct. 1), Kenny Irons (Offense - Oct. 15) and Marquies Gunn (Defensive Lineman - Oct. 29).

No. 15 Auburn (7-2, 5-1 SEC) will visit No. 9 Georgia (7-1, 5-1) Saturday night. The game will kick off at 6:45 CST and be televised nationally by ESPN.
