Juco Bound Prospect Pledges to Tigers

Enterprise High standout Raven Gray wants to play for the Tigers.

Enterprise, Ala.--Enterprise High School defensive end Raven Gray, one of he state's most talented defensive prospects, has committed to the Auburn Tigers football team.

However, don't expect him to be playing for the Tigers in 2006. Gray will have to get to the Division I college level via junior college so the earliest he could be expected to arrive at AU is for the 2008 season because he does not project as an academic qualifier.

A 6-3, 245-pounder, Gray was a standout performer at an Auburn summer football camp earlier this year and a key player for his high school team. He had also been a standout at a previous AU camp. As a junior, he played in the Alabama High School Athletic Association All-Star Game and was one of the most talented prospects in that contest.

Raven Gray is shown during a 2005 football camp.

Gray, who grew up an Auburn fan, says he has scholarship offers from Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi State and Southern Miss.

Quick and athletic, his strength is as a pass rusher and as a senior he set a school record with 5 1/2 sacks in a game. He is also one of the top players on the Enterprise High basketball team.
