Baseball Magic Number One; Softball In NCAA

The baseball Tigers have set themselves up for reaching postseason play with two victories over Georgia. The women's softball found out Sunday that it has earned a bid to an NCAA regional.

Auburn, Ala.--With just one weekend series remaining in SEC play, the Auburn Tigers find themselves just one game out of a spot in the SEC Baseball Tournament, which takes play May 22-26 at the Hoover Met.

It's not often that Auburn fans are glad to see Alabama thrive, but that was just the case this weekend as a sweep by the Crimson Tide over the Mississippi State Bulldogs has put the Tigers in great position heading into this weekend's series against the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville.

Making the series tougher than normal will be an Arkansas team fighting for its postseason life thanks to a weekend sweep by the Hogs over the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford. Trailing Auburn by a game and a half and with a half-game lead over Mississippi State, the Hogs will be a tough team to beat for Auburn to close out the regular season.

"One win and we're in," Auburn coach Steve Renfroe said following Sunday's dramatic 8-7 win over the Georgia Bulldogs to clinch the series win. "That's the biggest thing. We're within one win of being in the tournament. Our magic number is one. That's huge. It isn't going to be any easy task. Playing on Astrotuf and obviously what they did to Ole Miss, my goodness. We're in the driver's seat with our destiny. It's up to us. I've seen them respond, they've had to battle six straight games and found a way to win five of them."
