Goggans Gives AU Visit A High Rating

Benjamin Russell High School's Michael Goggans discusses his official visit to Auburn.

Alex City, Ala.--Benjamin Russell High standout Michael Goggans made it perfectly clear that his visit to Auburn was a good one and he is seriously considering the Tigers.

An early verbal commitment to Tennessee, the tight end says he hasn't made a final decision on where he will attend college. He notes that after spending the weekend in Auburn the AU campus is a possibility for his college destination.

"I enjoyed the visit," he says. "I enjoyed everything about it as far as the academics and campus overall.

"I would give it a 10," he adds. "I am seriously considering Auburn. I enjoyed the whole weekend."

Gabe McKenzie, a tight end who redshirted this past fall, was the player host for Goggans and he says the two go along well.

"We hung out over at some friends' house," Goggans says. "They took me around the city and let me check out things."

Goggans says one of the most important parts of the weekend was meeting with academic advisers. "I want to major in business and Auburn has a fine business school," he says. "The academic counselor sat down with me and we went over everything. I enjoyed that, too."

Michael Goggans helped Benjamin Russell reach the semi-finals of the Class 5A state playoffs.

The Benjamin Russell senior says he also enjoyed spending time with Jermarcus Ricks, a defensive lineman from Colbert County High. "Me and Jermarcus have a pretty good bond," he notes "We met on the Alabama visit and kind of hung out there. That was mainly the recruit I was with over the weekend."

Goggans says he plans to visit Tennessee next weekend. He originally committed to the Vols, but decided he needed to look at other schools before making his college choice.

""I will probably know where I am going a couple days after the Tennessee visit," he says.
