Bearcats Earn Another Verbal

"I called Coach Dantonio today and gave him my commitment." Said the newest member of the Bearcats football family about giving his verbal commitment. Who is this prospect and what did he have to say about his verbal commitment?

This week saw six prospects visit the University of Cincinnati for official visits. But while no word has been heard if any of them have given the Bearcats coaching staff a verbal commitment, one from a previous visit picked up the phone and caught the Bearcats head coach eating his lunch.

Jason Sherman has told Bearcat Insider tonight he's become a Bearcat. The 6'4 195 lb. receiver with breakaway speed (4.4 - 40) is the latest prospect from the "Sunshine State" to give the Bearcats his verbal commitment. What did Sherman have to say? We have it here in this one-on-one interview.

BCI: How was your visit to Auburn?

JS: It was great. But it really was about the same as the others. (Cincinnati, Illinois)

BCI: Was there anything that stood out when you compare the three schools you've visited?

JS: Not really. But after talking with my family and coach, I gave my commitment to Coach Dantonio. I think he was eating lunch. I know Coach Barnett, Hinton and Treadwell are all happy that I've made my commitment.

BCI: What did Coach Dantonio have to say?

JS: He was real happy and excited that I'll be a Bearcat.

BCI: What made you make the call today?

JS: I've always said that I had to feel real comfortable with the coaches. I liked all the coaches I've meet, but I felt the most comfortable with Coach Dantonio and his staff. I also like the opportunity that presents itself at Cincinnati and want to be part of it.

BCI: Are you looking to come in and make an impact or just come in and do as your told and let things happen?

JS: I want to make an impact next year. Only God knows how it's going to work out, but I'm confident in my ability and skills.

BCI: What would you say to Bearcat fans about your choice of Cincinnati?

JS: I would tell them I'm coming to make an impact and be part of the change as this team works to win a Big East Championship and play in a BCS Bowl game. The coaches are building something special and fans better get excited and be ready.

BCI: Will you have a chance to be at the spring game this year?

JS: I don't know yet. Coach Treadwell is coming on Friday and he's going to have more information on things. I'll have to wait and see if it's possible with my family.

BCI: Jason, congratulations on you're commitment and we look forward to having the chance to meet you in the future.

JS: Thanks sir. I look forward to that also.

Well there you have it; Jason Sherman is the latest prospect to give Coach Dantonio and his staff a verbal commitment. Jason brings some great skills for only having played football for one year. With his size, speed and athletic ability Jason will have a chance to make an impact the day he arrives on the UC campus.

Things will be heating up over the next 16 days as we approach National Letter of Intent Day on February 1st.
