"When I went up to Auburn I really loved the atmosphere there and all of the coaches have been real cool since I met them," Stevens told Inside the Auburn Tigers
A standout at Lincoln High, Stevens had offers from schools all across the country before settling on a final three. In addition to those three he also took official visits to UCLA and Maryland before narrowing his list down.
Stevens took an official visit to Auburn back in December when the Tigers were preparing for their bowl game against Wisconsin. Following the visit he gave some hints that he really liked the Auburn program. "I really liked it," Stevens said "All of the players showed me a lot of love. I felt real comfortable there. I liked it."
Stevens said he knew after he left Auburn that there was a good chance he would pick the Tigers, but wanted to take more visits.
A three-year starter for one of Florida's top high schools, Stevens made 120 tackles as a senior including 22 in his final game, a second round loss in the state playoffs. His career high came as a junior when he had 25 tackles vs. Madison and a team-leading 140 stops for the year.
