Running Back Signs With Tigers

Benjamin Tate is signed up and ready to run.

Auburn, Ala.--Standout tailback Benjamin Tate, who was an early graduate of Snow Hill High School in Maryland, and is already enrolled at Auburn for the Spring semester, signed with Auburn on Wednesday.

As a senior Tate lead the Eagles to the 1A state championship game and rushed for over 2,000 yards on his way to breaking Maryland's state record for career rushing yards with 5,920. The talented rusher played his first three seasons at Stephen Decatur High and finished his career at arch-rival Snow Hill as a senior.

Tate committed to the Tigers in July after having made several trips to Auburn for camps and preseason practices. He is already enrolled and taking classes, which will allow him to get a head start on the remainder of the 2006 class by taking part in Winter workouts, which began on Tuesday and Spring practice, which is scheduled to start on February 21st.

He chose Auburn over Penn State, Florida and Maryland.
