Craig Stevens Wraps Up Recruiting

The talented Tallahassee linebacker signed scholarship papers on Wednesday.

Tallahassee, Fla.--After narrowing a wide range of offers that came literally from coast to coast to three colleges, Craig Stevens ended the suspense on Friday before signing day on where he would play college football.

On Wednesday, the linebacker from Lincoln High officially signed with his pick, the Auburn Tigers.

He also seriously considered Alabama and Clemson on his short list while UCLA was in the picture, too.

The 6-2, 211 Stevens says his official visit to Auburn was the clincher on his college choice. "I felt really comfortable with the players and the coaches there," he says.

As a senior he made 120 tackles, including 22 in his final game, a second round loss in the state playoffs. His career high came as a junior when he had 25 tackles vs. Madison and a team-leading 140 stops.

Stevens says he first broke into the starting lineup as a sophomore when he moved from linebacker to defensive end, but has been back at linebacker the past two seasons.

"I play all three linebacker positions," he says. "It doesn't matter to me, but the Auburn coaches told me they are going to use me as a middle linebacker."
